Happy Birthday San Francisco Giants!  April 15, 1958 marked the first game played by the San Francisco Giants and the Los Angeles Dodgers as well.  Major League Baseball had finally come to the Left Coast.  Old timers--I mean even older than me--might argue that the PCL was the third Major League, but this was the National League coming to town.
Ruben Gomez pitched a shutout against the Dodgers that day at Seals Stadium.  Don Drysdale, a long time nemesis, did not last 4 innings and was the loosing pitcher.  Following is the lineup for the Giants that day.  Some of the names are very recognizable, while others are not:
Jim Davenport 3b
Jim King of
Willie Mays of
Willie Kirkland of
Orlando Cepeda 1b
Daryl Spencer ss
Danny O'connell 2b
Valmy Thomas C
Ruben Gomez P
